The Gratitude Project
"The Gratitude Project" is a months long endeavor by our students to celebrate frontline workers with music. At the beginning of the 2020-21 school year, orchestra students from Centreville High School met virtually in small ensembles. They discussed the many people making sacrifices on the frontlines of the COVID 19 pandemic, allowing us to learn and make music. Each ensemble selected a group of local frontline workers to "adopt." Students created thank you videos to those workers and set out to create a virtual performance in their honor. From waste management crews to grocery workers to doctors and nurses, over 50 videos were created to celebrate our heroes.
Over the next few months, the orchestra students practiced with frontline workers in mind, learning new music computer programs and video editing skills along the way. The end result is "The Gratitude Project." An intro to the project, 3-5 thank you videos, and the performances were emailed out to the adopted frontline workers in time for the winter holidays.
The students would like to thank all of the frontline workers. These performances are dedicated to you. We celebrate you with our music each day because you work to help us celebrate tomorrow!
